Department of Pharmacodynamics - Research

Research Directions

Scientific achievements of the Department are both nationally and internationally known and respected among medical professionals and form the basis of the emerging status. Our programs are designed to prepare scientific professionals for the rapidly changing nature of medical and pharmaceutical sciences. The 21st century promises to be new era, in which molecular medicine and gene therapy assuming an increasingly important role in medical care. Maximally adaptable cardiovascular trainings and basic research are offered to meet the changing requirements for pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases. Of particular importance will be the increasing need to describe disease mechanisms on the cell and molecular level and design treatment using emergent technologies. Each of these factors adds new requirements to training and basic cardiovascular sciences of all fields of graduate and postgraduate medicine and research. Intrinsic to our mission for education of medical and scientific professionals, we inspire both students and teachers to combine their academic training with creativity. Beyond this, we strongly encourage development of a scientific imagination and flexibility in dealing with all aspects of cardiovascular sciences. We are committed to preparing our students to be active participants in scientific development of the next century, but while retaining a strongly humanistic orientation. The interplay of these factors will ensure their ability to understand and handle the changing demands of health service in a changing world. Our objective in basic cardiovascular research is to augment our experience with novel programs to exploit breaking scientific developments. Special attention and support is given to collaborative research with other institutions. In servicing the community, we will play a seminal role in shaping the policies of health and basic research services, both within the country and the EU.
