Covid-19 Action Plan 2020

Faculty of Pharmacy, Action Plan

2. Attending classes that require personal presence

2.1.       In the case of theoretical lessons (lecture, seminar), we strive to maintain a protective distance of 1.5 meters if possible. If a protective distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained, a mask must be worn, and if a protective distance of 1.5 meters is maintained, it is recommended that students attending classes wear a mask.

2.2.       In case it would be difficult to follow the epidemiological rules due to the large number of students, we recommend holding classes online - where possible, providing live interactivity - via the eLearning system of the University of Debrecen. Lectures can be held in small groups as an alternative solution, the organization of which is the responsibility of the head of department / head of subject. The opportunity for personal consultation should be provided on an ongoing basis.

2.3.       For continuous contact with students electronic correspondence and Neptun system should be preferable. We provide an opportunity for insight into the evaluation of home papers and written examination papers, while paying close attention to the observance of security rules.

2.4.       In the current epidemiological preparedness situation, we strive for a form of attendance education, but in case of its deterioration, the implementation of hybrid or online education is also justified.

2.5.       Full compliance with the required cleaning instructions is required in all educational and community areas of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Disinfectants should be installed in the corridors in front of the classrooms. Surface disinfection of classrooms, seminar rooms, and practical rooms must take place before and after classes. This should be properly documented.

3. Implementation of professional practices, educational practices

3.1.       The organization of practices can be divided into two groups: a, pharmacy practices before the state exam, b, practices within the framework of undergraduate education.

Ad a, The practices take place in retail pharmacies or depending on the epidemiological situation, in a clinical/instituional pharmacy. With individual preparation, broken down into individuals. The student and the place of the practice must sign a voluntary statement of cooperation. (see attached form) Otherwise, the epidemiological rules of the retail/institutional pharmacy apply to the student.

Ad b, During the implementation of practices special thematics is developed, as the practices are done in smaller groups (max. 15 people). Where possible, demonstration practices are presented to the student. During the practices the general hygiene regulations apply to the students and the lecturers participating in the practice. Before the practice hand washing with soap or alcoholic hand disinfection is obligatory, the conditions are provided at the place of the practice. During the practice keeping 1,5 meter distance from each other is pursued. If it’s not possible, the use of face masks is obligatory. If the 1,5 meter distance can be maintained, the use of face masks is recommended.

3.2.       Prior to practices compulsory education (fire and occupational safety, data protection and hospital hygiene education) is provided online, if possible. If it is not possible, it must be organized in small groups in accordance with the relevant rules.

3.3.       The schedule of the students is prepared in advance, thus reducing the number of students present in a given period. On the first day of practices (state exam and undergraduate practices) the student must fill out the pre-triage questionnaire. Before each practice, the body temperature is checked, which is carried out and documented by the practice leader or the person appointed by the practice leader. For this purpose, the use of questionnaire according to Annex 2. is recommended.

3.4.       During the professional practices and the educational practices, it is the priority of the practice leader, to continuously monitor the correct use of personal protective equipment. A safety distance of 1,5 meters should be provided as far as possible throughout the practice.

3.5.       During and after the practice, equipment should be cleaned with virucidal disinfectant.

3.6.       During the clinical practice of pharmacy students, the epidemiological regulations governing the operation of clinics apply.

Special considerations apply to industry practices, the details are determined by the particular pharmaceutical manufacturing sites.

3.7.       Full compliance with the recquired cleaning instructions is recquired for all educational practices. This must be properly documented. Surface disinfection must be provided between groups of students in the rooms.

4. The rules of examination and demonstration

4.1.       We distinguish three groups of examination.

Ad a, mid-year written / oral demonstration; ad b, end of semester examination; ad c, state exams. In the case of the given examinations, the general rule is that the date, place and the expected number of members are determined in advance by the Faculty of Pharmacy, thus ensuring compliance with the epidemiological rules.

4.2.       At the Faculty of Pharmacy, in the case of an oral exam, students arrive at a pre-arranged, scheduled time.

4.3.       In the case of a written demonstration, the rules for lectures must be followed. In the case of a written demonstration, the use of personal aids is recommended. Written papers can be safely corrected after a 24-hour wait by following hygienic rules.

4.4.       Only healthy, asymptomatic students or lecturers may participate in the examinations. Pre-triage - questionnaire (Appendix 2), body temperature measurement - is justified for students. It is the examiner's responsibility to document this.

4.5.       During oral and written examination, if a distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained, a facemask must be worn. If a personal distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained, it is recommended to wear a mask. Regular disinfection is required on work surfaces and aids.

4.6.       During the examination, the hygiene aspects that are justified in the epidemiological situation (eg the rules of cough etiquette) must be strictly observed, to which the attention of the candidates must be drawn (oral, written calls).

4.7.       Oral demonstrations should only be held in a well-ventilated room and a maximum of two students should be inside with the lecturer at the same time.

4.8.       Where possible, frequent, preferably natural ventilation of the demonstration / examination site should be provided. Before and after the examination, disinfectant cleaning is required in the rooms, corridors and social rooms in all cases, the details of that are the following: frequently touched surfaces (doors, window handles, keypad, monitor, mouse, electrical and other switches, railings, faucets, etc.) must be cleaned with virucidal disinfectant.
