Novel drug candidate compounds, which are currently unique in the world and likely to be effective in the treatment of malaria, have been produced at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen. The outstanding achievement of the researchers involved has been recognized by a publication award by Gróf Tisza István Debreceni Egyetemért Alapítvány [Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen].

Several representatives of the University of Debrecen are also participating in an international research and curriculum development program on vaccination headed by WHO’s (World Health Organization) Regional Office for Europe. The chief objective of this project is to increase vaccination coverage. Staff members from Department of Public Health and Epidemiology recently met with a WHO delegation at our university to discuss the details of this project.
The production of several new herbal preparations is in the pipeline due to the cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen and the Tashkent Institute of Pharmacy, which has been developed in recent years. There are also plans to jointly research and develop bacteriophage-based pharmaceuticals.
On Wednesday, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Hungary visited the University of Debrecen to learn about the University's expanding international industrial and higher education partner network, its research and development projects, talent education and cultural activities. Gong Tao also visited two research laboratories of the Faculty of Science and Technology.
