The Department of Pharmacology is one of the oldest departments in the Faculty of Pharmacy. It was founded by Prof. Dr. Árpád Tósaki, who headed the department from 1998 to 2023. From the very beginning, the main teaching task has been to educate pharmacy students with the full range of applications of medicines, including indications, side effects and interactions. Later on, the teaching responsibilities of the Department were extended to include instrumental analysis, and then to phytopharmacology and dietary supplements.
The main research profile of the Department is the study of the pathomechanisms of cardiovascular diseases and their pharmacological influences. This profile has been extended in recent years with projects in pharmacokinetics and bioanalysis and clinical pharmacology.
