Molecular Oncology and Targeted Tumor Therapy

Gábor Halmos | peptide hormones and their tumoral receptors | immune oncology | molecular targets, bioconjugates

The workshop investigates endocrine oncological molecular pathways involved in the development and progression of tumors, as well as novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets based on them. Its main focus is the pharmacological analysis of hypothalamic peptide hormones and their receptors, including LHRH, GHRH, somatostatin, bombezin/GRP and VIP hormonal systems. The study of tumor receptor expression profiles and signaling processes of hypothalamic hormones and the investigation of molecularly targeted ligands and bioconjugates will serve to better characterize human tumors and develop more selective targeted therapeutic approaches. The research group focuses on the immunobiological issues of tumors, the exact role of indolamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), and the mapping of tumor stem cells and the signaling pathways they regulate, as well as the elucidation of the role of miRNAs and plant agents, as well as tumor cells resistant to drug combinations. The aim of further research is to explore the molecular background of drug resistance and immune checkpoint regulation in certain human carcinomas.
