The department has methodologically and scientifically distinct workshops dealing with the issues of drug intake and genome regulation.
RESEARCH DOMAIN
Cyclodextrins and nanopharmaceutical carriers
Ferenc Fenyvesi | cyclodextrins | permeability | cellular uptake
The workshop develops cyclodextrin-based and other macrocyclic carrier systems to improve the solubility, stability and bioavailability of active ingredients. It investigates the drug uptake of tumor cells, the delivery of RNA-containing complexes into cells, and the enzymatic degradation of carriers. The physicochemical characterization is complemented by cellular permeability and safety studies. It investigates new application possibilities of cyclodextrins in the targeted access and therapy of tumor cells.

RESEARCH DOMAIN
Genome biology and chromatin structure
Lóránt Székvölgyi | chromatin structure | recombination | genome stability
The workshop investigates the effects of chromatin spatial organization, R-loop formation, DNA break repair, and recombination on gene function and genome stability. It analyzes cellular and animal models using genomic, epigenetic, imaging, and bioinformatics methods. The research also contributes to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of ALS and FTD, as well as cancer.
