Cell and Molecular Therapy Laboratory
György Vereb | reprogrammed immune cells | regenerative medicine | targeted therapies | molecular imaging – digital pathology
The laboratory works on the development of therapies with antibody-based and reprogrammed immune cells. Their investigations range from the molecular organization of immunological synapses of CAR-T and CAR-NK cells to the preclinical testing of new CAR constructs and dynamically controlled 'designer' cells against depletion. They also investigate the hiding place of limbal stem cells and their applicability in corneal regeneration, as well as the role of receptor tyrosine kinases and integrins in tumor prognosis and targeted therapy. The research is accompanied by quantitative microscopy, spectroscopy, cytometry and digital pathology method development.

Cell Analytics and Membrane Transport in Immune Cells
Zsolt Bacsó | imaging cytometry | membrane transport | cell damage | data analysis
Our research group investigates the mechanisms of membrane transport, drug resistance and cell damage using state-of-the-art cell analytical, flow and imaging cytometry methods, primarily in human cytotoxic lymphocytes. Our main research area is the role of P-glycoprotein and other ABC transporters in the function, differentiation and migration of lymphocytes.
The DNA- and membrane-damaging and cell death effects of various physical and chemical influences, with special regard to their immunogenic consequences are also investigated. High-data imaging is combined with AI-assisted image analysis, including quantitative characterization of cell differentiation processes, such as fat cell differentiation.
