RESEARCH DOMAINS
Natural active ingredients and metabolomics
Gábor Vasas | natural bioactive substances | metabolomics
The workshop investigates bioactive compounds of natural origin and metabolite patterns of complex biological samples. Its main topics are the chemical-biological characterization of cyanobacteria and aquatic blooms, the interaction between the plant metabolome and endophytic fungi, and the exploration of metabolic changes accompanying plant development and stress response. Pharmacognosy research is combined with state-of-the-art analytical, microbiological and ecological methods.

Plant-fungal interaction and metabolomics
Sándor Gonda | plant-microbe interaction | metabolomics
The workshop deals with the interactions of filamentous fungi (endophytes) and plant bioactive compounds that are closely related to plants. The model plants used are functional foods and medicinal plants. The main methodology is high-throughput chemical analysis (metabolomics), which is complemented by methods examining the composition of the microbial community (metagenomics) and modern data mining methods (e.g. network analysis).
